This weekend I discovered GOM Player. GOM Player is a simple, light and free media player for Windows, that supports all the popular codecs.

Before I used XP Codec Pack with Media Player Classic included. All together a bigger footprint and an ugly interface.

Download the latest GOM Player and give it a try.

Review: Launchy

May 12, 2007

As I use Mac OS X lately, I am getting used to some very usefull utilities like QuickSilver. That is the reason, that I started to look for Windows alternative.

The best so far is Launchy.

Launchy is a free Windows utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager.

Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

Launchy helps you to offload your wrist by launching everything by using the keyboard.

Launchy was good enough for me to replace AutoHotKey.

As a result of reading about Apple’s MacBook, looking at video reviews and examining Parallels Desktop for Mac, I decided to buy a MacBook.

With a little help from the Mr. Internet I’m getting around the new system.

The following guides were very usefull:

  1. Hack Attack: A guide for switching to a Mac
  2. Switch to a Mac and You’ll Never Go Back
  3. LH Top 10: Free Mac Downloads

After a few hours research and installing Parallels Desktop for Mac, Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, Adium and Mozilla Firefox, I became a happy Mac user.

Keep in touch, I will post new experiences in a short while.
