Recently I researched how to backup my data. I have used automatic archiving (7Z) to an external media (USB), automatic synchronization (SyncBack) to a network attached storage and nowadays I use Mozy.
Mozy is a secure automatic remote backup service for any computer in any home. It is simple to install and configure. No external harddriv, expensive subscription service, CD’s or DVD’s to burn. All you need is a broadband connection and you are ready to go.
The free 2GB backup is stored encrypted 448 bit on the Internet and is accessible through the Mozy client of even through the web.
After installation, Mozy comes with pre-defined backup sets, that can be modified. An initial backup takes quite some time, depending on the upstream bandwidth. Once the initial backup has arrived, only changes will be saved.
Backup times can be configured manual, automatically or after a specific idle time.
If you have a good upstream bandwidth and you trust the service, Mozy is pretty OK.
